Some things I've been seeing that I've been wanting to write about for the past few weeks....
Groupmuse
My housemate works for this awesome startup called Groupmuse, which works to give classical musicians a space to perform in an intimate setting. People offer to host shows, usually in their homes, and the artist then chooses where they want to perform. One can type in their zipcode on the Groupmuse website and find a list of nearby Groupmuses within the week.
Anyway, I'd been hearing about it a lot through my roommate, and I finally got a chance to attend one a few weeks ago. I thought it worthy of a mention because I was struck by how lovely the performance/night was. I don't listen to classical music, so I didn't really know what to expect/didn't know if I expected much. The intimate setting with a room full of intent and happy listeners, added to the two musicians playing was really, quite magical. I found myself thoroughly excited and amazed at how the performance made me feel, and it made me think of how space, art, and community is created and how important it is. It's also crazy seeing what someone who you live with in close quarters with does/or something that is a huge part of their life.
